Oceans Eleven fills sports post

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Tony Saccaro, formerly director of sales at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Flagstaff, Ariz., joined Oceans Eleven Resorts here as regional manager of sports marketing, responsible for soliciting business from golf groups and other sports entities.

For golf groups, he said, Oceans Eleven can arrange play on 25 courses, including the LPGA Champions and Legends in Daytona Beach. Among others are the Grand Haven and Cypress Knoll courses in Palm Coast; Cypress Head and Spruce Creek, both in Port Orange, and Turnbull Bay in New Smyrna Beach.

Saccaro, who also is a former director of sales for the Holiday Inn in Baton Rouge, La. (under Mississippi Management), said agents have their choice of a net rate or a commissionable rate for groups.

Two-night golf packages vary in price. A group staying for two nights would pay a minimum of $142 per person, double. Included would be oceanfront or oceanview rooms, two rounds of golf at the courses chosen (with cart), tee times arranged up to one year ahead, daily breakfast, lunch, a gift, $1,500 worth of coupons, access to golf specialists and all taxes. For 20 or more rooms, there is one free package.

Oceans Eleven has four hotels and more than 800 rooms in Daytona Beach Shores. The properties are the 323-room Plaza Resort & Spa, the 228-room Treasure Island Inn, the 133-room Acapulco Inn and the 174-room Beachcomer Inn.
