Off-season hotel discounts in St. Kitts

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- To attract return visitors, St. Kitts Department of Tourism along with Tropical Shipping will offer tokens good for off-season hotel stays and other discounts to departing cruise passengers.

Typical offerings include seven-night stays for the price of five as well as dinners, tours and amenities.

Tropical Shipping, an on-island shipping agent, is financing the program and is working with hotels, restaurants, tour operators and tourism-sector entities on the savings programs.

Dwyer Astaphan, tourism minister, said the idea was the brainchild of Tropical Shipping president Rick Morrell.

According to Astaphan, most of the hotels on St. Kitts and several on Nevis will participate in the program.
