Ohio hot line, travel planner to list hot spots for fall foliage

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- To assist travelers with fall and winter getaways, the Ohio Department of Development's Division of Travel and Tourism launched the Fall Foliage Color Hotline and the 1999-2000 OhioPass Travel Planner.

The hot line will feature updates on the progress of the state's fall foliage through the end of October.

Updates will include reports from state parks, forests and nature preserves that will give callers the best locations for peak viewing.

The 100-page OhioPass Travel Planner features details on events and festivals available throughout the fall and winter.

Highlights of the publication include features on winter events, the Amish Country, free activities for families, arts and entertainment hot spots, shopping in the region and even an article on famous Ohio residents.

The travel planner also features a state map, a calendar of events and a section on how to obtain further information on sites and attractions in Ohio.

To reach the fall foliage hot line or to receive a copy of the planner, travel agents should call (800) BUCKEYE or visit Ohio on the Web at www.ohiotourism.com.
