Omni, Interlocken to Develop Colorado

DENVER --Omni Hotels and Interlocken Ltd. plan to break ground next month on a new hotel and conference center located halfway between here and Boulder, Colo.

The 302-room Omni Interlocken Hotel & Conference Center will cater to business clients at the Interlocken Advanced Technology office park located in Broomfield, Colo.

The project will be developed, operated and owned through a joint-venture between Omni Hotels and Interlocken Ltd., developer of the business park.

The office park is located on U.S. Highway 36, a main route between the two cities.

Officials said they are building the hotel because there are no major business hotels or meeting facilities in the area surrounding the technology park.

"The Omni Interlocken Hotel & Conference Center will provide top-notch amenities to guests and will be an ideal destination for meeting planners seeking a four-star facility," said Jim Caldwell, president of Omni Hotels.

The Omni will occupy 300 acres within the business park.

The project will include 28,000 square feet of meeting space and a 27-hole golf course.

The course will be open to the public and will include an 18-hole putting course and full-service clubhouse facility.

The project is scheduled to open in October 1998.

No price is available on the project's development cost.

Omni Hotels, based in Corpus Christi, Texas, has 40 first class and luxury hotels and resorts in the U.S. and Mexico.

Omni said it will continue an aggressive plan to expand in first tier and secondary cities, with an emphasis on the Midwest and the West Coast.
