Oneworld launches Visit Asia Passes

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The oneworld alliance launched Visit Asia Passes that enable passengers to travel on flights operated by its four regional members -- Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Qantas or Finnair -- at prices below regular scheduled fares.

Travelers would buy a Visit Asia Pass in conjunction with a long-haul flight to the continent. The pass can be tailored for two or more flights within the region.

Together, the four Oneworld members that fly within Asia serve 19 destinations in 12 countries: Hong Kong, China; Delhi and Bombay, India;

Denpasar, Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia; Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia; Karachi, Pakistan; Cebu and Manila, Philippines; Singapore; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Taipei, Taiwan, and Bangkok.

Visit Asia passes start at $130. Prices are based on the number of flights and the length of each flight.

A typical itinerary might be: Hong Kong-Tokyo ($250); Tokyo-Hong Kong ($250); Hong Kong-Bangkok ($140), and Bangkok-Singapore ($130).

The $770 total for this four-sector journey represents a savings of more than 50%, or $824, compared with the regular scheduled fare of $1,594.

The Visit Asia Pass follows the introduction of the oneworld Visit Europe Pass last summer, and the Visit North America, South America, Africa and Australia passes launched earlier this year.
