Orient Express spruces up two deluxe hotels

NEW YORK -- Two deluxe Orient Express Hotels in Portugal have undergone renovations, the Lapa Palace in Lisbon and the Hotel Quinta do Lago in the Algarve.

The 94-room Lapa Palace is a 15-minute drive from the city's center, located on a hilltop in the embassy district overlooking Lisbon.

The hotel added 12 additional rooms and suites in a separate building and refurbished its existing accommodations.

Other enhancements include the heating of the outdoor swimming pool and a landscaping makeover.

The Lapa Palace was built in 1870 and features 19th century style and Art Deco furnishings.

The 140-room Hotel Quinta do Lago on the Algarve coast is surrounded by private gardens and 1,680 acres of hills and woodlands.

The property completed room renovations, redecorated the lobby and transformed its Ca' D'Oro restaurant into a Venetian dining experience.

The restaurant now has Venetian fabrics and glass light fittings as well as a menu that relies on ingredients imported from Italy.

The hotel also opened the Brisa do Mar restaurant, which features cuisine combining specialties from Asia, France and Portugal.

The Lapa Palace and Hotel Quinta do Lago are members member of The Leading Hotels of the World, which is available in every CRS.
