Orlando adds 2 nightclubs

ORLANDO -- This city's latest visitor attractions, Metropolis and Matrix, are high-energy nightclubs capable of handling up to 3,000 patrons. The clubs occupy 30,000 square feet of the Pointe Orlando retail complex, which is located in the heart of the International Drive tourist corridor, near the Orlando-Orange County Convention Center.

The $10 admission covers both clubs. There are group rates for 20 or more, according to Trisha Jenkins, sales manager. Disc jockeys and live music are found at each. Groups that rent a club but have their own bands need only show up with their instruments because sound and lighting systems are in place, a spokeswoman said.

Club highlights follow:

• Metropolis, with Moulin-Rouge decor, plays music from the 1980s and '90s and Top 40 selections. It features seven billiard tables and a dance floor.

• Matrix, with futuristic decor and a dance floor, offers a light show and Top 40 music. Both clubs are owned and operated by Enterplex, a privately held, Scottsdale, Ariz.-based firm with nightclubs in Arizona, Kentucky, Ohio and Texas as well as Florida.
