Orlando convention hotel to be managed by Hilton

Hilton Hotels, Apollo Real Estate Advisors and Rida Development Corp. have formed a joint venture to build the Hilton Orlando Convention Center.

The 1,400-room hotel is due to open in 2009.

Located on 26.4 acres just south of Orlandos Orange County Convention Center, the 18-story hotel will offer direct access to the convention centers north concourse via a pedestrian sky bridge.

Apollo Real Estate Advisors and Rida Development Corp. will be the majority owners of the hotel, while Hilton will manage the hotel and have a minority ownership interest.

Hilton said the hotel is poised to take advantage of a booming Orlando convention market that currently offers relatively few hotel rooms within walking distance of the convention center.

The hotel will have 130,000 square feet of meeting space, including 38 meeting rooms, a spa and fitness center, an Italian restaurant, a fine-dining restaurant, a sports bar, a lobby lounge and a deli.
