Orlando exhibit showcases imperial riches

ORLANDO -- The Orlando Museum of Art will feature an exhibit called "A Taste For Splendor: Russian Imperial and European Treasures from the Hillwood Museum."

The 180 pieces in the Hillwood collection, dating from the 16th to the mid-20th centuries, will be on display from Dec. 18 through Feb. 27, 2000. Works include a desk said to have been created for Marie Antoinette and the wedding gown of the Russian Empress Alexandra.

Also included are porcelain pieces and gold boxes commissioned by Catherine the Great and masterpieces from Peter Carl Faberge, including two imperial Easter eggs. Admission is $4 for visitors ages 12 and older, and $2 for those ages 4 to 11. Group rates are $5.
