WAIKIKI, Hawaii -- Nohea Gallery, a Hawaiian gift store and art
gallery, opened in Outrigger's Ohana Reef Towers hotel on Lewers
The Nohea Gallery (Nohea means lovely or of fine appearance in
Hawaiian) features koa wood boxes, wood bowls, glass, ceramics,
original paintings and prints. Other wares include Japanese fish
prints, textiles and jewelry.
Resident artists craft most of the work sold in the gallery,
according to co-owner Laurie Baron.
Baron said the gallery will host workshops where customers can
meet the artists.
"Having workshops with the artists who create these hand-crafted
works of art will help our visitors gain a true sense of what is
special about Hawaii," she said.
The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
