HONOLULU -- Outrigger Hotels & Resorts added its fourth Australia property with the opening of the $48 million Outrigger Mooloolaba International Beach Resort on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, 60 miles north of Brisbane.

The 17-story oceanfront resort, in Mooloolaba's retail district, has 204 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with full kitchens.

Facilities include two pools, a gym, health club, sauna, meeting space for up to 220 people and 25 ground-floor retail and restaurant tenants.

Rates range from approximately $114 to $273 per room per night.

According to Tourism Sunshine Coast, the property will allow the Mooloolaba area to tap into new conference and meeting markets.

Dave Lawrence, Outrigger's vice president and Australia general director, said prior to opening, the property had booked 40 conferences.

Outrigger, which opened offices on the Gold Coast in 1998, also operates beachfront properties in Queensland in Cairns, Surfers Paradise, and Coolangatta.
