Pa.'s York County is expanding annual event

YORK, Pa. -- The York County Convention and Visitors Bureau is expanding its annual June Manufacturer's Day program.

For 2002, the bureau added a Manufacturer's Weekend, Feb. 16 to 18. As part of the program, factories in the area -- including Harley-Davidson, Martin's Potato Chips and Pfaltzgraff -open their doors to the public.

The bureau said it expects to have more than 34 factories participating.

These designated days are designed for York County to showcase its industrial history. York County also is working on commissionable hotel packages to coincide with the weekend event.

The bureau is looking to offer agent booking incentives, including York County promotional material such as clocks and tote bags.

For more information or to order a Group Tour Planner, agents can call (888) 858-YORK.

The event's Web site is located at www.watchitmadeinyorkpa.org, and a new site will be launched in the future at www.factorytours.org.
