Package celebrates millennium in 3 sites

NEW YORK -- The restaurant 21 located here will host Journey Into the 21st Century, an eight-night luxury package that celebrates the millennium in New York, New Orleans and culminates on the island of St. Martin.

The tour visits Orient Express-owned properties in each city including 21, a restaurant started in 1922 as a speakeasy.

While in New York, participants stay at the Mark Hotel located near Central Park. Activities includes facials, massages, museum trips and visits to select Fifth Avenue stores with personal shoppers.

The black-tie millennium eve celebration includes cocktails and dinner in the Prohibition Era Wine Cellar with a private service staff, followed by dancing to the sounds of the Hank Lane Orchestra. New Year's Day starts with a brunch at Le Cirque 2000, followed by limousine transfer to a private jet that takes travelers to New Orleans for a stay at the 324-room Windsor Court, located one block from the French Quarter.

From Saturday, Jan. 1 until departure on Jan. 5, guests will dine at Windsor Court's Grill Room, Emeril Lagasse's Emeril's, the Oak Alley plantation and the Superdome for 50-yard line seats at the Nokia Sugar Bowl for football's National Collegiate Championship Game.

Visitors can also enjoy a horse-drawn buggy ride through the French Quarter and a private excursion of antique shops on Royal Street.

On Jan. 5, the guests travel to the 83-room La Samanna, for three nights in St. Martin. While in St. Martin, guests are provided with private vehicles to travel around the island.

Activities include participation in a competitive sailing regatta, hosted by the captains of Stars and Stripes and Canada II, two vessels that won the America's Cup. Water sports are also offered.

Guests also receive two complimentary tickets that may be used on the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express (London to Venice, Italy) or the Eastern & Oriental Express (Singapore to Bangkok, Thailand) valid until Jan. 1, 2002. This $21,000-per-person unique travel experience will be limited to 21 individuals, including a representative from 21.
