Paint the Town: Big Apple discounts abound

NEW YORK -- NYC & Co., New York City's convention and visitors bureau, will kick off its Paint the Town winter campaign on Dec. 1, offering discounts at city hotels, restaurants, shows, museums, attractions and stores.

In place through March, the promotion will feature two components: Paint the Town hotel packages that include a Broadway show, dinner, sightseeing tour, admission to a cultural institution and discounted parking, and "do-it-yourself" discounts available exclusively to American Express cardholders at more than 350 city locations.

More than 75 hotels will offer one-, two- and four-night packages, which feature a choice between four categories of properties divided into bronze, silver, gold and platinum, based on price. All packages are commissionable at 10%.

Participating hotels include the Hotel Pennsylvania and the Quality Hotel on Broadway (Bronze); On the Ave. and the Roger Williams (Silver); Grand Hyatt New York and Parker Meridien (Gold); and Sofitel New York and Waldorf-Astoria (Platinum).

One-night packages start at $105 per person; two-night packages start at $274, and four-night packages start at $433.

Clients who book the hotel packages also receive the "do it yourself" discounts, assuming they use their American Express cards for purchases. "Do it yourself" discounts include: two-for-one admission to the Gotham Comedy Club, Stand-Up New York comedy club and Iridium jazz club; discounted tickets ($35 to $60) to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows; and two-for-one or discounted admission to more than 50 attractions
