Paris museums, monuments feel impact of strikes

PARIS -- National museums and monuments operated by France's Ministry of Culture have been closed due to strikes by several unions.

More than 30 institutions have been affected in Paris, although not all have closed, according to a French Government Tourist Office spokeswoman, who added that some sites have remained open, including Versailles.

Museums and monuments operated by the city of Paris as well as private institutions have remained open. She advised travelers to check with their hotel concierge or the Paris tourist office to find out which institutions are open.
