Paris tourist sites remain shut

National museums and monuments operated by France's Ministry of Culture have been closed due to strikes by several unions, which began May 19. In Paris more than 30 institutions have been affected, though not all have closed, according to a French Government Tourist Office. The spokeswoman also noted that museums and monuments operated by the city of Paris, as well as private institutions, have remained open. Her advice to travelers in France is to check with either their hotel concierge or the Paris tourist office to find out what institutions are open.
