Park East marks anniversary with 30% commission

NEW YORK -- Park East, a family-run Africa tour operator, is celebrating three decades in Africa by offering a special deal to clients, commissionable at 30% for agents.

"Agents have helped Park East grow over the last 30 years, and we wanted to show our thanks for their support," said Eric Gordon, chief executive officer of Park East.

African elephants. The 11-day classic Kenya safari is specially priced at $3,995 per person, including roundtrip air fare from New York to Nairobi on British Airways. The package includes stops at three major game parks: Samburu Game Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park and Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Clients will stay at traditional game lodges while in the parks, and in Nairobi they will stay at the historic Stanley Hotel, which was recently renovated. Departure dates are Aug. 11, Sept. 22, Oct. 6 and Nov. 3.

In other Park East news, the tour operator recently unveiled its millennium packages. There are 12 different itineraries to meet a variety of clients' needs, all commissionable at 15%.

Packages include roundtrip air fare from New York, accommodations, New Year's galas and all meals.

The following is a sampling:

  • The Equator Club 2000 safari allows clients to celebrate Christmas Eve at the Masai Mara Game Reserve, known for its excellent views of wildlife. New Year's Eve is celebrated at the legendary Mount Kenya Safari Club's black-tie "bush banquet," once favored by Winston Churchill. The next morning, a group portrait will be taken on the equator to commemorate the new millennium. The price is $9,595 per person.
  • The Rovos Cape Town 2000 safari allows for a chance to step back in time aboard Rovos Rail, Africa's Orient Express. Clients will celebrate New Year's Eve at a lavish gala in Cape Town. The price is $10,995 per person.
  • The Peak at 2000 is for the real adventure traveler. This package includes a five-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Also included are a visit to a restored mountain coffee plantation and a Christmas Day bush breakfast in Amboseli National Park. The price is $7,995 per person.
