MIAMI -- Parrot Jungle Island, the successor to Parrot Jungle and
Gardens, which operated in Miami from 1936 until last December,
will re-open June 28 in a new location on Watson Island off the
Florida coast between Miami and South Beach.
The theme park previously drew 300,000 guests annually, the
company said, of which about 70% were local residents.
With the new location and attractions, owner Bern Levine, a
veterenarian and bird breeder who purchased the theme park in 1988,
is hoping to increase the percentage of visitors from out of

nurture 1,000 plant species and feature animal shows, plant
nurseries, a petting farm and other educational exhibits.
