Peace Through Tourism signs on supporters for fall confab

STOWE, Vt. -- The International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) has secured the commitment of 25 organizations as supporters of the Third Global Summit on Peace Through Tourism.

The confab is planned for Oct. 2 to 5 at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort and Conference Center in Pattaya, Thailand.

Included on the list are the Association of Retail Travel Agents, the Association of Travel Marketing Executives and the Global Citizens Network. The supporting organizations are in addition to more than 30 organizations that are members of the IIPTs Coalition of Partners for World Peace through Tourism.

According to IIPT, the goal of the conference is to create a 21st century Agenda for Peace through Tourism, including strategies for using tourism to help with economic revitalization of Tsunami-affected regions, poverty reduction, healing the wounds of conflict, promoting cultural understanding and ecological enhancement.
