LOS ANGELES -- The Pearl Beach Resorts opened the Bora Bora Pearl
Beach Resort, its third property in French Polynesia.
The $20 million resort has 60 bungalows, of which 50 are
overwater bungalows with terraces. The other 10 are air-conditioned
beachfront suites with gardens and outdoor whirlpools. The resort,
located on a motu, or private island, is a 10-minute boat ride from
Facilities include a 5,220-square-foot freshwater swimming pool,
two restaurants, two bars and two boutiques. The luxury resort also
has a 40-seat theater, showing classic movies, including ones
filmed in French Polynesia, and a game room and tennis court
available for night use.
Pearl Beach Resorts is a joint venture of Tahitian investors,
including banks and private interests, and Air Tahiti, parent
company of Tahiti Vacations. The company plans to build resorts on
Rangiroa and the Marquesas.
Three wholesalers announced packages featuring the new
property:Tahiti Vacations, with five nights in a beachfront bungalow,
starting at $1,899 per person, double, for travel through Dec. 20.
Plans include roundtrip air from Los Angeles on AOM French Airlines
and interisland air. Combination Pearl Beach Resorts packages --
Bora-Bora/Raiatea and Bora-Bora/Manihi -- are also available.
