Pearl Beach opens Bora-Bora resort

LOS ANGELES -- The Pearl Beach Resorts opened the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort, its third property in French Polynesia.

The $20 million resort has 60 bungalows, of which 50 are overwater bungalows with terraces. The other 10 are air-conditioned beachfront suites with gardens and outdoor whirlpools. The resort, located on a motu, or private island, is a 10-minute boat ride from Bora-Bora Airport.

Facilities include a 5,220-square-foot freshwater swimming pool, two restaurants, two bars and two boutiques. The luxury resort also has a 40-seat theater, showing classic movies, including ones filmed in French Polynesia, and a game room and tennis court available for night use.

Pearl Beach Resorts is a joint venture of Tahitian investors, including banks and private interests, and Air Tahiti, parent company of Tahiti Vacations. The company plans to build resorts on Rangiroa and the Marquesas.

Three wholesalers announced packages featuring the new property:

  • Tahiti Vacations, with five nights in a beachfront bungalow, starting at $1,899 per person, double, for travel through Dec. 20. Plans include roundtrip air from Los Angeles on AOM French Airlines and interisland air. Combination Pearl Beach Resorts packages -- Bora-Bora/Raiatea and Bora-Bora/Manihi -- are also available.
