MANHASSET, N.Y. -- Our Lady of Czestochowa and the birthplace of Pope John Paul II are two of the highlights of Pilgrimage Tours & Travel's Poland itinerary.

The company, based here, has been taking people on pilgrimages around the world for more than 70 years.

This 10-night pilgrimage begins in Warsaw and then goes to Czestochowa's Jasna Gora monastery to see the Black Madonna.

Other sites visited include Auschwitz; Krakow, where Karol Wojtyla served as archbishop before his election as pope; the Cisterian Monastery in Nowa Huta, and in Lithuania, Vilnius and Kaunas.

In Kaunas, the group visits the Kaunas Cathedral, the Jesuits Church in the Town Hall Square and the Pazaislis Monastery.

Participants also visit the Hill of Crosses, which once accommodated a defensive fortification and now is covered by numerous crosses placed by local believers.

Departure dates for the program are April 14, May 19, Sept. 8, Oct. 6 and Nov. 3.

The cost starts at $1,299 per person, double.

The price includes roundtrip air fare from New York, accommodations, daily breakfasts and dinners, guide, entrance fees, baggage handling, hotel service charge and taxes.

The firm also organizes pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorije, Rome and other shrines.
