Property Debuts in Palau Capital

KOROR, Palau -- The 165-room Outrigger Palasia Hotel Palau had its soft opening in Koror, capital of the Republic of Palau.

PalauOperated by Honolulu-based Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, it is the largest hotel in the western Pacific nation and is known for its diving and fishing.

Facilities include a fitness center, a pool and outdoor lounge area, meeting rooms, a business center and retail outlets, including a travel desk and a dive shop. Rooms feature television with in-room movies, a safe and a refrigerator.

There are four restaurants: the Western-style Desomel; Ming (Chinese); Rikyu (sushi), and Yars Club, a rooftop restaurant and entertainment area.

Outrigger Palasia Hotel Palau features the top-floor Voyagers Club and a concierge level with lounge.

Published rates, through Dec. 17, range from $182 to $330, with suites $350 to $778 per night. Introductory specials start at $130 a night.

PADI Travel Network, a dive travel firm, is offering a diving package with the hotel, priced at $1,290 per person, double. The package includes roundtrip air from San Francisco or Los Angeles and six nights' accommodations plus two-tank dives for $99 each.

Outrigger Palasia Hotel Palau, which has its grand opening scheduled for Aug. 24, was host to the Micronesia Games from July 30 to Aug. 10. It is owned by Palasia Resorts Inc., a Palau joint venture.
