Property aims to lure agents with free two-night-stay offer

RENO, Nev. -- Although the relationship between the Atlantis Casino Resort here and the travel agent community is good, there is always room for improvement, according to John Farahi, the property's chief executive officer and general manager.

John FarahiThat is where the resort's $70 million expansion project comes into play. "We are trying to grow that segment of our business with these new rooms," he said, noting that travel agent bookings represent about 15% of the resort's business. "Frankly, we're anxious to establish relationships with agents and wholesalers."

To this end, through July 30, the resort offers International Airlines Travel Agency Network and Cruise Lines International Association agents a free two-night stay. When booking their stay, agents must refer to the code OFFER99. Upon check-in, agents must present their IATAN or CLIA membership card and leave a business card.

Additional room nights are available at discounted rates of $39 per night midweek and $59 per night on weekends. The offer is subject to availability and some blackout dates do apply.

falls view"We are going to be pushing even harder" for agents' business now that the property is doubling in size, Farahi said. "We'll also be pushing agents for convention business, since we're the only property located across the street from the [Reno-Sparks] convention center."

The expansion project includes the construction of an additional 20,000 square feet of convention, meeting and special-event space, which will bring the property's total meeting space to 35,000 square feet. Plans feature a 5,000-square-foot expansion of the grand ballroom and the construction of 5,000 square feet of event space and 2,500 square feet of breakout meeting space.

In the meantime, he added, the property is in all the major reservations systems. Atlantis Casino Resort, Phone: (800) 723-6500 or (775) 825-4700; for OFFER99, contact Cali Vicknair at (775) 824-4400, Ext. 3034, Web:
