PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico -- The sixth annual Puerto Vallarta Gourmet
Festival is scheduled to take place from Nov. 9 to 18.
"The festival was started here by Thierry Blouet of Cafe des
Artistes to encourage local restaurants and hotels to be recognized
for the gourmet food they served," according to restaurateur Roland
Menetrey, one of the festival organizers.
More than 20 renowned guest chefs from internationally acclaimed
restaurants and hotels throughout the world will showcase their
culinary abilities during this nine-day food festival.
Some of the featured chefs include Norwegian Eak Prukpitikul of
Catch 35 in Chicago, Austrian Wolfgang of the Four Seasons Hotel in
Las Vegas, Italian Giovanni Denigris of Restaurant Primavera in
Chicago and Uruguayan Eduardo Gonzalo of Le Saint Florant in the
Altes Franceses hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Also, more than 20 Puerto Vallarta restaurants will each host a
guest chef who will create a gourmet menu nightly that will be
available to diners throughout the festival.
The event will feature gourmet cooking classes, wine tastings
and seminars, among other things.
Visitors will be able to select from a variety of festival
packages that include such things as admission to the cooking
classes, seminars, a private luncheon and admission to the chefs'
