Qantas, AA sign code-share deal

LOS ANGELES -- Qantas signed a code-share deal with American Airlines' regional carrier, American Eagle, to bring customers to Los Angeles where they will depart on Qantas flights to Australia.

American Eagle now feeds passengers to Los Angeles from Phoenix six times a day and from Oakland, Calif., also six times a day.

In other airline news, Qantas is spending about $25 million over the next year to spruce up and expand its airport lounges in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The airline will renovate an existing lounge in Sydney and build a second one there.

In all three cities, Qantas will employ "a strong emphasis on integrating the latest business tools and communications technology," according to the airline.
