Rail Europe sets sights on corporate travelers

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Corporate travel might be a small portion of Rail Europe's business, but president Bernard Frelat said he hopes to change that with the help of the firm's fastest-growing product: Eurostar.

Rail Europe's sales for the train, which travels between London and Paris in three hours with continuing service to Brussels, jumped 20% last year with a total of 300,000 passengers.

At the end of 2000, Rail Europe's Business Travel Services signed contracts with American Express, WorldTravel Partners and Rosenbluth, under which the agencies agreed to promote Eurostar -- and thus boost sales.

In addition, Rail Europe will extend its training and educational efforts to business travelers at these agencies, providing information on the benefits of rail travel in Europe.
