Resort at Summerlin gets new name

LAS VEGAS -- In the wake of opening a second tower hotel, the Resort at Summerlin changed its name to the Regent Las Vegas.

"We've always had two hotel towers operated by Regent, but we just decided to change the name to better align ourselves with the brand," said a spokesman for the resort, located about 11 miles northwest of the Strip and McCarran Airport.

The Resort at Summerlin is now the Regent Las Vegas. One tower is a 286-unit with rooms and suites and is known as the Spa. The other, opened earlier this year, has 255 units and is called the Palms.

Regent describes itself as the city's first luxury golf and spa resort off the Strip. The resort is situated on a plateau 1,000 feet above the Strip near the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

In addition to the two hotel towers, facilities include:

  • A 50,000-square-foot casino with 1,200 slot machines, 40 table games, two gaming salons and a sports book.
  • Preferred tee times at 10 area golf courses, including TPC at the Canyons. Complimentary shuttles are provided by several nearby courses.
  • Aquae Sulis, a 40,000- square-foot health spa with 36 treatment rooms, whirlpools, cascading waterfall showers and cardiovascular and weight- training equipment. Therapies and treatments include shiatsu and Swedish massage.
  • A collection of restaurants including the recently opened Parian, which serves New American cuisine, and other outlets ranging from a steakhouse to an Irish pub built in Dublin and transported here.
  • Regent International Hotels is part of Carlson Hospitality Worldwide.
