SUMMERLIN, Nev. -- The new year is bringing a new name to the
Resort at Summerlin, according to Kurt Bjorkman, the property's
director of catering and conference services.
In an effort to consolidate the $276 million property, which
encompasses the Regent Grand Spa and the Regent Grand Palm Hotel,
the name is being changed to Regent Las Vegas, Bjorkman said.
"Summerlin is a great area, but the name has no significance to
those outside the area," he said. "We're looking at consolidating
the whole resort -- one hotel with two towers, the Spa Tower and
the Palm Tower."
The name change is expected to take effect by the end of this
month. What will be known as the Spa Tower opened last July with
286 rooms. The 40,000-square-foot Aquae Sulis spa -- the
centerpiece of this portion of the property -- opened in

southwestern golf resorts, and the Palm Tower is "more for the
business traveler who enjoys a little more of a city hotel feel,"
The property is majority owned by Swiss Casinos of America,
whose U.S. management company is Seven Circle Resorts, based in Las
Vegas. The resort operates the property under license from Regent
International Hotels of Minneapolis.
