Resorts add hiking, biking options

LANAI, Hawaii -- Manele Bay Hotel and the Lodge at Koele on Lanai added guided hike and downhill biking options to their 4x4 Adventure package for 1999.

The new afternoon Trekker package features a hike in an area called the Garden of the Gods, which has rock formations, or to the island's highest point at 3,370 feet above sea level.

The Cruiser bike package follows an eight-mile downhill route beginning near the lodge in Lanai City and ending at Kahokunui on the coast.

A short hike to explore petroglyphs and to Shipwreck Beach concludes the bike trip.

With the two additions, the four-night Adventure package offers a choice of 10 activities.
