ISTANBUL, Turkey -- The Ritz-Carlton Istanbul will make its debut
this June in Turkey's historic crossroads metropolis.
The 244-room tower property will be located in the fashionable
Beyoglu quarter, near Taksim Square and overlooking the waters of
the Bosphorus Strait.
A man-made pond with fountain, surrounded by landscaped gardens,
will be part of the overall design by Turkish architect Doruk
In contrast with its modern exterior, the Ritz-Carlton's
interiors will reflect the historical influences of Ottoman Empire
Istanbul, with public areas appointed in glass mosaic tiles, teak
columns, oil paintings of cityscapes and hand-woven Turkish carpets
atop earth-tone marble floors.
Each of the guest rooms and suites will have a traditional
arched doorway that will open into accommodations that overlook the
Bosphorus or the city.
Interior decor will feature beds with brass-accented headboards,
hand-woven duvets and wall art of pen-and-ink drawings of historic
