Ritz-Carlton Istanbul slated to open in June

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- The Ritz-Carlton Istanbul will make its debut this June in Turkey's historic crossroads metropolis.

The 244-room tower property will be located in the fashionable Beyoglu quarter, near Taksim Square and overlooking the waters of the Bosphorus Strait.

A man-made pond with fountain, surrounded by landscaped gardens, will be part of the overall design by Turkish architect Doruk Pamir.

In contrast with its modern exterior, the Ritz-Carlton's interiors will reflect the historical influences of Ottoman Empire Istanbul, with public areas appointed in glass mosaic tiles, teak columns, oil paintings of cityscapes and hand-woven Turkish carpets atop earth-tone marble floors.

Each of the guest rooms and suites will have a traditional arched doorway that will open into accommodations that overlook the Bosphorus or the city.

Interior decor will feature beds with brass-accented headboards, hand-woven duvets and wall art of pen-and-ink drawings of historic Istanbul.

High-tech amenities will include Internet access.

Club accommodations will offer a private lounge, light refreshments from continental breakfast to late-night cocktails and concierge services.

Dining facilities at the hotel will include a rooftop restaurant offering gourmet international cuisine and spectacular views of the city.

There also will be a lobby lounge and terrace bar as well as a lobby bar featuring a fireplace and English gentlemen's club furnishings.

A traditional Turkish steam bath will be one of the guest recreational facilities, which also will include a full-service spa offering a range of treatments from massage to healing therapies, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a fitness center.

Sailing on the Bosphorus will be another leisure activity available to guests.

Conference planners will find 18,837 square feet of meetings and function space, including an 8,234-square-foot grand ballroom, five separate meetings rooms and a permanent boardroom.
