Rosewood begins work on Punta Mita property

DALLAS -- Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and its real estate development partners, Santa Barbara Partnership and Dine, announced that they began construction on La Solana, a Rosewood Resort, in Punta Mita, Mexico.

The upscale resort is scheduled to open in 2005.

Located at the 1,500-acre Punta Mita development 35 miles northwest of Puerto Vallarta, La Solana will consist of 83 rooms with individual plunge pools and terraces as well as 57 privately owned villas.

The resort will feature a full-service spa with 14 treatment rooms and two "spa suites," a tequila bar, upscale boutiques and several restaurants.

La Solana will be Rosewood's second resort in Mexico, following the opening of Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos in 1997.

The Punta Mita development also houses the 140-room Four Seasons Punta Mita and a Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf course. Plans call for Punta Mita to have a total of four resorts, three golf courses, an equestrian center and a marina.
