April 15, the date five Nordic tourism boards here are scheduled to
fire up new lead-generation software designed to speed consumer
referrals from their joint call center to accredited members of
their Scandinavia Travel Agents' Reward (STAR) program.
The system was codeveloped with the Netherlands Board of
Tourism, which implemented a similar version of the system last
The software automatically identifies the three STAR-accredited
agents nearest a consumer who calls Scandinavian Tourism's (212)
885-9700 phone number for information on Denmark, Finland, Iceland,
Norway or Sweden.
As with the Dutch system, if the caller agrees to a referral,
the agents receive an instant e-mail advising them of the potential
client's travel interests, tentative length of stay, booking status
and other criteria.
