Sept. 'Agent Month' at Disney

ORLANDO -- Walt Disney Attractions designated September Travel Agent Appreciation Month, extending numerous discounts to visiting agents.

"Travel agents are a vital link to the success of our Disney theme parks, resorts and cruise line," Randy Garfield, senior vice president of sales and travel operations for Walt Disney Attractions, said.

Garfield is also president of the Walt Disney Travel Co. Highlights of the agent discounts follow.

  • Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, Calif. For stays Aug. 29 to Oct. 2, a two-night package rate of $151 per person, double, at the Disneyland Pacific Hotel or $174 at the Disneyland Hotel. Two additional room occupants can be included at $48 each. For $40, agents can upgrade themselves to the concierge level of either hotel, which gives them access to the workout center, evening refreshments and other amenities. Also included in the package for all room occupants are a three-day Disneyland Flex passport, with a choice of extra features such as breakfast, early admission to Disneyland, free hotel parking and discounts for selected Disney dining outlets and other Southern California attractions.
  • Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando. From Aug. 22 to Sept. 30, discounts at on-site Disney-owned hotels. Three-night packages, from $245 per adult, double, cover an All-Star Resorts room and unlimited admission to every Disney theme park and smaller operation (such as water parks and Pleasure Island). Only one room per party will be discounted. Children's packages are from $150 for ages 3 to 9; $183, ages 10 to 17. Agents also may sample one Flex feature such as a photo session with Mickey Mouse or a character breakfast. Also provided are a discount coupon book for dining, recreation and merchandise; 50% off Disney Institute educational day sessions, and daily dining credits ranging from $14 to $60, depending on age.
  • Disney Cruise Line. 50% discounts for one agent and one guest Sept. 5 to Oct. 1 on the Disney Wonder's four-day sailings and 35% off other sailings of both the Disney Wonder and the Magic. The offer applies to cabin categories 4 to 11. Taxes, tips, air travel, transfers and port charges are not included.
  • Disney Vacation Club Resorts. 50% discounts on rack rates Aug. 29 to Oct. 2 at Disney's Hilton Head Island (S.C.) Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort. To qualify for discounts, agents must present, at check-in, a card from the International Airlines Travel Agent Network; the Association of Canadian Travel Agents, or the Cruise Lines International Association.
