LOS CABOS -- Sheraton Hotels and Resorts added a sixth hotel in
Mexico by signing a management contract with the Hotel Hacienda del
Mar here. The hotel, which opened in 1998, will be renamed the
Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort and Spa.
According to Sheraton, plans include enlarging the property to
accommodate the lucrative meetings and conventions market and
increasing the number of rooms.
The hotel is located in the heart of the tourist corridor
between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. It is about 35
minutes by car from the San Jose del Cabo Airport, at the tip of
the Baja California peninsula.
"I am very proud to have a new Sheraton hotel in Los Cabos, one
of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico," said Osvaldo
Librizzi, president of the Latin America division of Starwood
Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc., Sheraton's parent company.
The 171-room hotel's design re-creates a Mexican hacienda, with
a main building surrounded by villas connected to the hotel's
various patios, fountains, cafes and shops.
The hotel has a 1,350-foot-long beach, three swimming pools, a
spa and fitness center, several restaurants, a tequila bar and
there is a golf course nearby.

Hotel and Towers and the Sheraton Suites Santa Fe, both in Mexico
