Six Key West beaches shut down

KEY WEST, Fla. -- Monroe County Health Department officials posted advisories recommending that people stay out of the water at six local beaches after elevated bacteria counts were found during routine testing. Unaffected was Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, the city's primary beach as well as other Keys public beaches and coral reefs. A 24-hour beach update hot line was installed for agent and consumer use: (877) 892-9585 or (305) 293-1653.
