Sofitel sets 'Winter Sale' to celebrate its makeover

MIAMI -- The Sofitel Miami is spotlighting its $4.5 million renovation with a Great Winter Sale. The promotion is priced at $153 per night, single or double, and includes breakfast.

Under the plan, which expires March 17, one child age 11 or younger can stay in an adult's room at no extra cost. This room would normally cost $200. The renovation of the guest units and bathrooms features an art deco design and applies to all 281 rooms, including 25 executive suites and two presidential suites.

The art deco design was selected by a majority of the 200 guests, including corporate clients, who were introduced to the two prototypes under consideration and asked for their opinion, according to general manager Feryal Abdulkader. The choices were the art deco design and the look of a more traditional room.

The rooms have art deco crown moldings and a wooden headboard wall with built-in reading lights. Rooms also have an ultra- suede chaise lounge, red bed coverlets and a leopard-print desk chair.

Sofitel is in the process of repositioning its hotels worldwide into the "upper upscale" category. Now that the renovation is completed, the Miami property will be upgraded in category, Abdulkader said. The Miami hotel last year completed a $3.5 million renovation of its public and meetings areas. Both renovations were overseen by Elias Design Group, New York. For information, call (800) SOFITEL.
