Sol Melia Hotels Will Manage Puerto Vallarta's Maeva Resort

PUERTO VALLARTA -- Sol Melia Hotels is augmenting its portfolio with the addition of the 365-room Maeva All-Inclusive Resort here.

The firm will take over management of the property in April and rename the resort Paradisus Puerto Vallarta.

The property is the only inclusive resort in the exclusive Marina Vallarta district, boasting views of the Pacific Ocean and Banderas Bay Marina.

The resort features three restaurants; two bars; two tennis courts; nightly shows; water sports; boat excursions; snorkeling and diving instruction; a children's program; meeting space for up to 600 people, and the area's largest swimming pool.

The addition of the Paradisus Puerto Vallarta will bring Sol Melia's lineup of upscale inclusive resorts to three; the firm opened its first such property in Cozumel in 1994 and its second in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in 1995.

Sol Melia is an international hotel company based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Its Americas division is headquartered in Miami.

The firm operates properties under three brands: Melia Hotels and Paradisus Resorts, both of which are found throughout Mexico, and Sol Hotels.

This year, Sol Melia's expansion plans include a series of new properties in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and throughout the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
