Sonesta to reopen Bermuda property May 15

SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda -- Sonesta Hotels and Resorts said the Sonesta Beach Resort & Spa Bermuda here will re-open May 15, after undergoing a major renovation.

Plans to revamp the property were already in the works last year when Hurricane Fabian hit last September. The $78 million project was to be phased in over several years while the 400-room resort continued to operate as usual.

All that changed when the strongest storm to hit the island in 50 years slammed into the resort. The Sonesta closed immediately and new plans were put in place.

The renovation includes updating all public spaces and guest rooms, as well as the property's Water Park including its 3 pools, water slide, waterfalls and fountains and more. The hotel will boast new eateries including a Sushi restaurant.
