NEW YORK -- South African Tourism coordinated with tour operators to present a series of tours commemorating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a democratic government.

The tours, offered through the year, are designed to showcase the country's attractions with an emphasis on its history and cultural diversity.

Tour operators participating in the initiative are Safari Ventures, African Horizons, David Tours, Sita World Travel, Big Five Tours & Expeditions and Brendan Worldwide Vacations.

Sample itineraries include Brendan's eight night Classic South Africa tour, priced at $1,999 per person, double, visiting Cape Town, Soweto, the Winelands and Kruger National Park; and Big Five Tours' nine night 10th Anniversary of the Democracy of South Africa itinerary, priced from $2,895 per person, visiting Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Soweto, Shamwari and Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned).

To book the plans -- which pay 10% commission -- or find out more details, contact the operators directly.
