South Africa to host golf travel market

SUN CITY, South Africa -- The fourth International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) will be held here Dec. 5 to 8, featuring exhibitors from 31 countries.

Destinations represented will include Argentina; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Egypt; France; Ireland; Italy; Portugal; Scotland; South Africa; Spain; Turkey, and the U.S.

Among the others represented will be Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, the Caribbean, England, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, New Zealand, Qatar, Thailand and Wales. Switzerland will participate for the first time.

According to Mark Walsh, exhibition manager, 88% of the floor space already has been sold "and the geographical profile of exhibitors confirms that IGTM continues to be the international event for the golf travel industry."

Golf tour operators also are securing places at IGTM 2001, with twice as many buyers registered than at this time last year.

"Last year's event attracted 165 golf tour operators from 33 countries and, if the current momentum is maintained, we would expect to exceed this for IGTM 2001," said Lindsey Kavanagh, marketing manager.

IGTM is the only dedicated event for the golf travel industry, bringing together specialist golf tour operators, incentive travel agents and meetings and conference organizers with leading hotels, resorts, golf courses, airlines and other suppliers of golf travel-related products.

The event is structured into prescheduled appointments, and features an awards dinner.
