South Sea Tours Again Offering Park Excursions

LIHUE, Hawaii -- South Sea Tours resumed wildlife itineraries by launch and canoe at Kauai Lagoons.

Tours of the 45-acre wildlife park were suspended a year ago.

The park, consisting of seven islands amid waterways, has exotic wildlife, including 30 varieties of birds, monkeys, gazelles, wallabies, flamingos, and a kangaroo, an ostrich and a zebra.

The 800-acre Kauai Lagoons, owned by Shinwa Golf Co., also features two 18-hole golf courses, a health spa and a tennis complex.

The Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club, owned by Marriott, is also part of Kauai Lagoons.

Wildlife tours by Venetian mahogany launch, holding 35 persons, cost $15 per adult and $10 for children ages 3 to 12.

They last 45 minutes and operate every hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Tours by four-passenger outrigger canoe cost $20 for adults and $14 for ages 3 to 12.

Advance reservations are required for canoe tours.

South Sea Tours operates the excursions from the Kauai Lagoons Visitor Center and also has activity desks at the Kauai Marriott.

It also owns South Sea Helicopters, which offers Kauai air tours, and a 38-foot racing boat for ocean excursions.
