Starwood to provide Wi-Fi access in Asian hotels

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts and the Intel Corp. signed an agreement to provide wireless Internet access in 39 Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis, Luxury Collection, Four Points by Sheraton and W hotels in 10 Asia-Pacific destinations.

Starwood has a similar agreement with Intel in the U.S., where more than 150 Sheraton, Westin and W hotels have been equipped with the wireless technology.

Starwood and Intel will cooperate on a marketing and in-hotel promotion campaign to raise consumer awareness of the hotels' so-called Wi-Fi hot spots, which will be installed primarily in lobbies and meeting rooms.

The technology will complement the high-speed Internet access already available in most Starwood hotels in the region.

To promote the initiative, Starwood is giving its Preferred Guest members double Starpoints through Dec. 15 when they book a participating hotel.
