State Dept. warns about lack of Macedonia hotels

WASHINGTON -- The State Department notified travelers to Macedonia that hotels and car rentals in Skopje, the capital, may be "extremely difficult to obtain" due to the many humanitarian organizations that have flocked to the city.

Hotel bookings should be confirmed "before commencing travel," it said.

Separately, the department noted that the U.S. embassy in Nicaragua advised its employees not to fly on La Costena, a local airline.
