State issues warning to Serbia-Montenegro

The State Department issued a travel warning for Serbia-Montenegro, stating that U.S. citizens should leave the country due to "the possibility of military intervention by NATO."

A travel warning also was issued for the African republic of Burundi, where extremist groups, including one operating out of the Republic of the Congo, have threatened or committed acts of violence against U.S. citizens.

The State Department issued public announcements advising U.S. travelers to take extra security precautions when visiting Sri Lanka and Chile, due to political strife, and Ecuador, which is experiencing severe economic troubles.
