NEW YORK -- Sandals Resorts' Chairman Gordon "Butch" Stewart revealed details of two additional Sandals resorts that will open this winter in Jamaica as well as expansion plans for Sandals Antigua Resort & Spa.

The two new resorts, which will add more than 500 new rooms to Sandals' inventory, include the 360-room Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa, set to open in February on Jamaica's uncharted south coast, and the 529-room Sandals Grande Ocho Rios Beach & Villa Resort, opening in December.

While the Whitehouse property is new construction, the Sandals Grand was previously two separate properties that are now joined together in one resort on 110 acres with 95 pools, 12 restaurants and two full service spas.

Named general manager of Sandals Whitehouse is Sandals and Beaches Resorts' veteran Jeremy Jones, previously general manager of Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa in Providenciales.

Michael Darby was named general manager of Sandals Grande Ocho Rios resort, the largest Sandals in the chain. Darby had been at the helm of Sandals Ocho Rios Resort & Golf Club.

Meanwhile, a $25 million development plan on Antigua "will significantly expand our product," Stewart said. The project calls for 114 new rooms, of which 14 will be suites with private plunge pools; two new restaurants, and a variety of entertainment options in a Mediterranean Village-themed area.

Stewart said that a rack rate "Recreation Sale" will offer up to a 40% discount at the Ocho Rios resort for traveling beginning Jan. 1 on stays of three or more nights.
