Stockholm's Lindgren Museum Is Ideal for Kids

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Sweden's capital opened a new museum with families in mind.

The Astrid Lindgren Museum, dedicated to children's literature and in particular to the works of the popular Swedish author, is located at Galarvarvet on the island of Djurgarden.

The museum is part of Junibacken, a theme park for children.

Visitors to the museum can board a computer-controlled train that takes them through a tunnel to various Astrid Lindgren settings, guided by the author's own text and voice (in English for foreign visitors). After the 10-minute train ride, visitors can see exhibitions such as the Children's Book Square and the Villa Villekulla toy house. There also is a multimedia room and a small pancake cafe.
