Sun Coast Resort project on schedule for fall opening

LAS VEGAS -- Golf and bowling enthusiasts will be among those targeted by the Sun Coast Resort & Casino, which is set to wrap up major construction work on March 20 and is on track for a planned fall opening.

"It's surrounded by three of the city's most desirable golf courses -- Angel Park, the Badlands and TPC at the Canyons," a spokeswoman for the resort said.

The 216-room, 10-story facility also will have a 64-lane bowling center.

In addition, the resort will feature a child-care center and a 16-screen movie theater.

The $178 million property is on a 50-acre parcel about 10 miles from the Strip near Red Rock.

Rooms will range in size from 550 square feet to suites up to 2,000 square feet. Rates have yet to be determined, the spokeswoman said.

For groups, the facility will have 15,000 square feet of meeting space. It also will have a 78,000-square-foot casino and a 600-seat Bingo Room. Seven restaurants will offer dining choices ranging from fresh seafood to fast food.

Coast Resorts, based here, is the project's developer. Its three other Las Vegas properties are the Barbary Coast, Gold Coast and the Orleans.
