SuperClubs Resorts aims to live up to its name

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- SuperClubs Resorts has been busy building new facilities and expanding others in an effort to spruce up for the winter.

The following is a sampling of what's happening.

  • SuperClubs will install "cyber centers" at Hedonism II in Negril and Grand Lido Negril by the end of the year so guests can access and send e-mails and browse the Internet.
  • The two Negril resorts also will install data ports and a more technologically sophisticated telephone system in every room.

  • SuperClubs took over management of the Ironshore Golf and Country Club in Montego Bay, which it renamed SuperClubs Golf Club Montego Bay, at Ironshore.
  • The Grand Lido Sans Souci expanded its Bella Vista restaurant onto the beach, giving new meaning to the term "beachside dining." The resort's Casanova restaurant also added outdoor seating.
  • For business travelers, the resort doubled its conference facility to accommodate 140 guests theater-style.

  • Hedonism II opened a Jamaican restaurant last month.
  • In addition, the resort scheduled a minor refurbishment (new carpeting, tiles and a water slide) within the next year.

  • Breezes Montego Bay opened an outdoor restaurant, Starlight Grill.
  • For information or reservations, call SuperClubs at (800) 467-8737, or visit the resort's Web site at www.superclubs.com.
