Suppliers sign on to promote travel to Toronto

TORONTO -- In an effort to help Toronto reverse weeks of negative SARS-related publicity, several Canada travel suppliers teamed up for "Canada Loves Toronto," a marketing campaign that includes special deals to entice travelers to visits the popular Canadian city.

At least 30 suppliers, including Starwood Hotels, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Avis Rent-A-Car and Air Canada, have signed on.

The campaign particularly focuses on promoting travel during the Memorial Day weekend (May 22 to 27) and Canada's Victoria Day weekend (May 15 to 20).

Among the deals being offered: Air Canada has discounted air fares available from some 80 cities, including a $49 each way New York-Toronto fare. Air Canada also is waiving fuel surcharges on the fares.

More deals are listed on a special Web site, www.canadalovestoronto.com.
