NEW YORK -- Jonathan Tisch, chairman and chief executive of Loews
Hotels, was unanimously elected chairman of the board of directors
of NYC & Co., succeeding Tim Zagat, president of the Zagat
Survey, who served in the post for the last three years. Zagat
recommended Tisch in March, when he announced he would be stepping
down from the post.
Tisch said his top priorities will be expanding the Jacob Javits
Convention Center and increasing the marketing agency's funding.
The convention center is only the 18th largest in the country, and
NYC & Co.'s $12.6 million budget puts it behind 15 other
convention and visitors bureaus.
Zagat will continue to serve on the agency's executive committee
and restaurant committee.
